Jack Ma - Daily Post Nigeria

Everyone wants to be a successful person. The secret to success is not only working hard but also having habits that make them more productive when carrying out their activities.

Here are six habits that successful people do before bed as reported by Life Hack.

  1. Read a book at least 1 hour a day

Microsoft founder Bill Gates has a habit of reading a book an hour before bedtime. He usually chooses books with topics ranging from politics to the latest events. The benefits of reading a book before going to bed are known to relieve stress and improve memory in the brain. A study from the University of Essex conducted in 2009 revealed that reading at least six minutes per day can reduce stress by 68%. By reading a book, it also improves brain health. Every time reading a book becomes a way of exercising itself for our brains. Reading books can even reduce the signs of aging by up to 32% according to a study conducted in the UK.

  1. Keep Away From Smartphone

Many people use smartphones before going to bed even though this is a bad habit. Successful entrepreneur and writer, Arianna Huffington, keeps her smartphone away before going to bed. She even put her smartphone in another room. According to Dr. Charles Czeisler, a professor from Harvard University, the light from a cell phone screen can disrupt the body’s natural resting ‘signal’ and make the body think that it is still daytime. This will make it difficult for you to sleep. Lack of sleep can disrupt productivity.

  1. Walk

Buffer’s CEO, Joel Gascoigne, admits he goes for a walk before going to bed. He walks to get rid of his tired mind from work and tries to get tired. Joel regularly walks every night to relieve stress. Another benefit is of course a healthier and fitter body. A study revealed that walking can increase creativity. When you are walking, the mind is unburdened, and ideas usually spring up. So, walking can be the right thing to do when you have problems and are looking for a way out.

  1. Meditation

Meditation can make the mind calmer so you can sleep more soundly. Oprah Winfrey makes a schedule for meditation to relieve stress. A 2014 study revealed that 19,000 cases were resolved after the culprit meditated. Meditation can relieve stress, prevent disease, and prevent depression.

  1. Creativity

In 2006, American designer Vera Wang said it’s always best to get creative before going to bed. She made it a habit to draw a design before going to bed. A study shows that the evening is the perfect time to get creative even if you feel tired during the day. Try to be creative at night before going to bed to explore your potential.

  1. Make Plans for Tomorrow

The CEO of The American Express Kenneth I. Chenault likes to end the night with a simple way of making plans for tomorrow. He used to write a plan of at least three things he wanted to do for the next day. In a study with high school students gathered together, they were directed to organize a plan each night and this had a good effect on them. After doing it for four years until they go to college, those with good time management have higher grades than others.
