La Tomatina is an annual festival held in the City of Bunol, Valencia, where participants throw tomatoes and get involved in a tomato fight for entertainment purposes. Thousands of people threw tomatoes at each other at the La Tomatina Festival on Wednesday August 31, 2022.
The festival has been paused for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic and this iconic party has become an attraction for foreign tourists, especially from the United Kingdom, Japan and the United States. About 15,000 people were present in this tomato fight, with 130 tons of fresh tomatoes as ammunition.
The beginning of this annual festival of La Tomatina took place in August 1945, where young people of that era in Spain gathered in Town Square. They participated in a large parade with participants and musicians who were present at that time.
Originally, the La Tomatina festival was just for fun, since every year many visitors attended, so the Spanish government made the La Tomatina Festival an attraction for tourists, especially foreign tourists.
